Meet Our Board

Autumn Shead (Founder and Chairman of the board) With over 12 years of experience in education, I am deeply passionate about bringing valuable information and resources to the community. I spent seven years in the classroom, helping students build confidence and understanding in mathematics. I hold a BA in Mathematics, a BS in Math Education, and an MA in Developmental Education with a specialization in math.

Since I was young, I’ve been actively involved in volunteering for community events, which sparked my lifelong commitment to service. That early involvement inspired me to give back to youth in meaningful ways—whether through education, mentorship, or outreach—ensuring they have the tools and support they need to succeed.

Maurice Barnett (President) is a seasoned executive, visionary leader, and lifelong advocate for educational equity. As President of Ready Tutoring, he brings over 20 years of experience leading high-impact programs at global tech companies including Amazon Web Services, Cisco, NVIDIA, and Dell, with a strong focus on systems engineering, program strategy, and team leadership.

He is also the founder and CEO of The Sports Portal, a platform designed to empower young athletes and their families with access to resources, opportunities, and community support. Through this work, Maurice has helped families across Austin ensure their children receive positive, character-building development through sports.

At Ready Tutoring, Maurice combines his passion for youth development with his commitment to academic access—ensuring students receive personalized support, mentorship, and the educational foundation they need to thrive. His leadership reflects a deep belief in the transformative power of education to unlock lifelong potential.

Chandra White (Treasurer) is a recent retiree with over 30 years of experience in education. Chandra taught for 20 years in Pflugerville ISD where she initially specialized in early childhood education and then became a certified dyslexia interventionist.

Chandra is currently a guest educator as well as a mentor for novice teachers entering the dynamic field of education. Outside of her passion for education, she enjoys volunteering, singing, and spending time with her family. She is honored and feels privileged to serve as a member of this board allowing her to continue to help make a difference in students’ lives.

Alifia Britton (Secretary) is a wife and a mother. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and later from Concordia University with a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration.

She has served in the field of education for over 25 years, most recently as an elementary principal.  Prior to that, she supported teaching and learning at both the campus level and the district level in roles of Teacher, Master Teacher, Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal.

Elmer Fisher Jr. (Member) brings over three decades of global enterprise sales and executive leadership experience to his role as a dedicated board member. His proven ability to build high-performance teams and negotiate multi-million dollar strategic deals has contributed to the growth and success of organizations such as CarOrder.com, Dell Enterprises, and Dunn & Bradstreet. Currently serving as a senior leader at CrowdStrike, Elmer leverages his expertise to support strategic initiatives and organizational excellence.

A lifelong resident of the Austin, Texas area, Elmer’s commitment to community service and youth development is a cornerstone of his leadership philosophy. His nine-year tenure on the Manor Independent School District Board, including roles as Vice President and President, exemplifies his dedication to education and community engagement. Notably, he played a pivotal role in securing over $366 million in bonds, leading to the development of multiple new schools — including elementary, middle, high school, and the first K-8 campus in Manor, Texas.

Elmer champions the principle that “Education Creates Opportunities,” inspiring initiatives that empower youth and foster community growth.
